the situation on the last game of the season was simple. man utd need to match chelsea's result against bolton in their away game against wigan. both teams were tied at 84 points before kick off, with man utd leading due to superior goal difference.
it was a nervous start againts wigan. however after going in front 1-0 courtesy of yet another ronaldo's penalty, the team was always in control. players (and supporters!) were a little bit nervous in the middle of second half, knowing that chelsea had scored against bolton, which had momentary tied both man utd and chelsea at 87 points. if wigan equalised, then the title would go to chelsea. everything was settled when giggs scored the second goal though. in the end, chelsea drew their game against bolton, and man utd ended up winning the league by two points.
this team was the third successful generation built by ferguson, and things are looking up with lots of young players in the squad. he won the first epl title with old guards like bruce, pallister, irwin, schmeichel and cantona. then the golden generation were built around beckham, scholes, giggs, butt, the nevilles and co, products of man utd's academy. ferguson has 'bought' the latest squad with the addition of nani, tevez and anderson to an already young squad consists of carrick, ronaldo, rooney and evra. hey, at least he didn't buy old, expensive superstars who played great in one every fifteen games.. (hint: that team wears blue! hahaha).
looking forward to champions league final in ten days. congrats to all man utd fans khalid, emi, judd, bad, faiz, ashraf, dz, aloy etc...
